Glenwood receives the Golden Ribbon!

SACRAMENTO—State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson today announced that 780 elementary schools are being honored under the Gold Ribbon Schools Awards Program

"These schools shine as bright beacons for others, putting forth an exemplary effort to ensure that every student is ready for 21st century college and careers," Torlakson said. "California teachers are developing an education model for the nation, training the students of today to be the problem-solvers, inventors, and pioneers of tomorrow."

The California Gold Ribbon Schools Award was created to honor schools in place of the California Distinguished Schools Program, which is on hiatus while California creates new assessment and accountability systems. Nearly 6,000 elementary schools were eligible to apply this year.

Schools applied for the award based on a model program or practice their school has adopted that includes standards-based activities, projects, strategies, and practices that can be replicated by other local educational agencies. The award recognized middle and high schools last year.

The Gold Ribbon Awards recognize California schools that have made gains in implementing the academic content and performance standards adopted by the State Board of Education. These include the California Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics, California English Language Development Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards.

Please visit the California Gold Ribbon Schools Program on the California Department of Education's (CDE's) Web site for more information.

Lawsuit Affects Release of Student Data

The California Department of Education (CDE) is currently involved in a lawsuit in which the court ordered CDE to produce confidential student information related to all students who have attended a California school since January 1, 2008. This order may result in a release of your student’s confidential information. To object to this release of information, parents must fill out and mail an objection form to the court no later than April 1, 2016. The form and further information is available in both English and Spanish on the CDE’s website at: http://www.cde.ca.gov/morganhillcase

  • Completed Enrollment Packet (either handwritten or online)
  • Original Birth Certificate
  • Two Original Proofs of Residency
  • Parent/Guardian Photo ID

Measures A and B

Glenwood has been educating the children of our community for over 50 years. We are proud to provide a high-quality education for our students, but updates to our school facilities are needed. To provide local funding for school improvements, the Board of Education placed Measures A and B on the November 3, 2015 ballot.

The current election results indicate Measures A and B will pass overwhelmingly! We were so lucky to have amazing support from Glenwood parents and staff, the District Office staff, and the SRCS School Board. I would like to personally give acknowledgement and my sincerest thanks to  Len Schultz, Tami McCalland Michael Mink for spearheading the campaign.

The Glenwood School Foundation is your parent organization!  Visit the GSF website for events, meetings and weekly updates!
